1/6/14 - The Thundersnow Challenge

Adam King, his Bonegnawer packmates, and a certain Silver Fang have gone haring off into the Umbral Niagara Gorge in a Blizzard to challenge Thundersnow. What happens next is anyone's guess. ((Folks, please post here once so we know you're still reading, and we can get to the scene.))

Adam, a large dark form in Hispo, sets a steady speed for the hike. Not too fast, and not too slow. His head is bent against the wind, and though he seems very displeased, there is a sense of determination in his stride. Every few steps he issues a yip or a howl to ensure his companions know his location. Every few minutes, he stops to get his bearings and looks for shelter to pause in. Also, he is paying careful attention to the spirits in the area, those he can see anyway, and seems to be looking for something in particular.

((At session I'd do this with a mountain of challenges, trying to stay together, trying not to get lost, etc. I think the best way to go might be to pick a leader of the group to throw the navigation (ie survival) chops, say three of them, then one each from every member of the group. So let's go with that.

Pick your leader, then whoever that is, throw three chops.

Also, I don't see the chops app on the new forum... hrm. ))

Syntos, with his white fur in hispo, would move through the snow with little trouble (Go Go Ice Dance). He wouldmake sure he kept an eye on Adam King. He would occassionally second the noise of King to verify his position. When others would respond, he would use his ease to travel to move to the direction to ensure each was fine, using the movement to help keep him warm.

((I nominate J Bailey as the leader, cause he seems to be the most experienced at winter hiking.))

(I think they said the test is for survival. So maybe Physical with a retest of Survival. Maybe a mental for perception?)

(Sorry guys, I spent the weekending doing not running scenes.)

The cold is breathtaking, and that was literal. You move along at a good clip, but find yourself pausing to orient yourself and in those moment you are gasping, wheezing, so damn cold.

Except for Syntos, who is practically walking on top of the snow, with no apparent unease. Staying on target mostly involves keeping Syntos in sight, and in that you are all successful.

Eventually the gorge ends and opens out into Lake Ontario. You assume, since you can't see a damn thing.

A crackling ball of lightning blasts at trees and unfortunate spirits. THUNDERSNOW is here and so are you.

Wincing at the lightning, and hiding from the wind in a rocky outcropping, Adam seems exhausted. He sighs, though it can't be heard.

<<"I am beginning to regret this challenge. Syntos, you have been a major boon here! Thank you for joining us. I think we would be lost by now without you to keep us together.">>

Eyes front head slightly down cast to keep the wort of the wind out the now sodden blanked covered snow encrusted bone gnawere continues, along with the grupe. at he same sted pace one foot infrount of the other.

He would continue moving, making sure that Jimmy, Bailey and King stayed together as they approached Thundersnow's location.

"I gave my word I would help you all get here safely. Think not of this as something to regret but upon the tale you may tell for your pack's glory."

His attention would shift in the location of the splitting trees as he would then silence, letting them make the initial approach.

Does anyone have a clue what we are going to do when the rubber meets the road, or are we just out here like a bunch of assholes?

He would look to Jimmy and tilt a head.

"Here I thought we were out here giving praise to the spirits for giving strength to this winter."

Adam I got that part, but is that it? Is the journey the whole of it? I'd be cool with that.

That is a good point Lord silver fang, but with just word or are we to perform a task, offer gnosis, or perhaps something else altogether?

I do not know Thundersnow well, but others form Wendigo's brood like to eat or hear gossip. On the other hand he seemed pleased when we broke those phones for him.
