| So, when should the shift happen? I've been talking with the Admin (not sure who that is IRL) and currently it works like this. We have whatever left over from the previous month, lets say 13 0 5 At least one zero value should be common since after a rite of accomplishment your renown drops to zero. You then add whatever you got from this months activities, lets say +2 +5 +6 for a new total of 15 5 11 The spirits then forget some of your renown, including the one of the 5 temp honor they just gave you. Final totals 14 4 10
This is a minor quibble, but there is an easy fix that shouldn't make the work any harder for the STs. Just move the shift to before you gain new temp renown. It makes more sense thematically, the spirits forget some of what you did last month, but not what you just did and its a minor bump for everyone, averaging a gain of one temp renown a session.
Anyone feel this is a reasonable request for the ST staff or am I tilting at windmills?
PS with the above example and the new location for the shift the numbers would be PM 13 0 5 Shift 12 0 4 New 14 5 10

| Here's the thing, every one of your examples has one thing in common, there is no game effect.
Not making a ruling... but hey, let's not overthink this too much.

| How so? It's not a large game effect, we're talking about 1 temp renown per session, but it does have a small game effect. If you mean it doesn't have an IC game effect, then flavor wise the spirits are forgetting some of what I did for them before I can possibly make it permanent.
Spirits "Hey Ron, can you loan me 5 bucks"
Ron "Sure, so when can you pay me back the 5 bucks?"
Spirits "5 bucks, you only loaned me $4.95?"

| No no, I mean in every one of your examples, you're still hitting 10 renown. Everything past that 10 temp is effectively meaningless, right? | |

| No I didn't, note the middle category, which is the only one where there is a change. | |

| Right.
I feel like I could explain this better at session where I can flail my arms around and such.
The new system has certain flaws, which we're trying to fix quietly and administratively. As a game, we will be gaining Temp renown faster than in the old system... the difference is that the folks who turboed through renown last time (Basically Hoffman and Ben), can't do that this time. It's more egalitarian.
I urge you not to worry too much about the exact mechanics of how renown works. That way lies madness.
Basically, our goals with renown are: (a) it must be fair to all players (b) minimize ST bias as much as possible. (c) wiggle inside MES guidelines to make it balanced.

| with the new system its a wait game takes 6 months before you can challenge from one rank to the next. No way to power through that really. | |

| Right. So we want to honor that implied clock, while at the same time making sure folks are earning what they get. | |
